BAME Community Development CorporationProvides Affordable Transportation for Seniors, Veterans and Low-Income San Diego Residents through CommConnect
SAN DIEGO (December 9, 2013) –San Diego non-profit BAME Renaissance Community Development Corporation (BAME) is proud to announce CommConnect, a community shuttle service to help ensure that all members of the community have access to transportation. The program stems from BAME’s belief that.
Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.,CommConnect provides safe, reliable and timely transportation for seniors, veterans, low-income individuals, and persons with disabilities in the greater Logan Heights area and surrounding neighborhoods. CommConnect makes every effort to accommodate all trips and is equipped to handle those with special needs.
“One's inability to drive a vehicle shouldnot prevent community members from living independently in their own homes or from making medical and other life enhancing appointments,” said Monte Jones, BAME Executive Director. “Specifically, we’re reaching out to many local residents who are often overlooked, but who deserve to be a part of a healthy and vibrant community.”
Juanita Clemons, a 92-year old, 50-year resident of Logan Heights, was looking for a shuttle service that was affordable, friendly, and reliable.She came to BAME for help.
“I didn't feel rushed. [The driver] told me to take my time and not to rush while I was in the store,” said Clemons.“That's important because when you go into a store it can take a while to get in and out, especially for older people like me.CommConnectmet all my requirements and more. I enjoy being able to go to more than one stop, and it's nice that they follow up with a phone call to see how the service was."
