Small Business Development

BAME CDC advances economic development in the Greater Logan Heights community through advocacy and programs which provide resources, exposure, and opportunities for small business owners and entrepreneurs in the neighborhood. BAME CDC’s small business development work focuses on increasing neighborhood investment, strengthening and expanding local businesses, encouraging job creation, and improving the infrastructure and aesthetics along Imperial Avenue, Commercial Street, Market Street and Ocean View Boulevard. This work ranges from grassroots initiatives such as distributing coupon books and installing solar-powered lights on trees along Imperial Avenue, to large-scale events such as the Imperial Avenue Street Festival http://www.imperialavenuestreetfest.com/. BAME CDC also organizes an association of local business owners called the Central Village Business Association (CVBA), and assists neighborhood residents in the creation and development of micro-enterprises.

Central Village Business Association

The Central Village Business Association (CVBA) was convened by BAME CDC in February 2012 in order to unite and promote the local small business community. The CVBA is a network of small businesses working together to bring economic sustainability to our community, which includes Stockton, Grant Hill, Sherman Heights, Logan Heights, and Memorial. The multi-ethnic and vibrant business corridors of Imperial Avenue, Market Street, Commercial Street, and Ocean View Boulevard, offer customers a variety of services, shopping, and international dining, attracting visitors and locals on a daily basis. Bordered by the I-5 to its west and south, the I-15 to its east, and the I-94 to its north, the Greater Logan Heights business corridors offer customers a walkable business corridor, with many opportunities for expansion and new business.

The CVBA monthly meetings provide networking opportunities, access to business training and resources, and a space for local small business owners and community stakeholders to collectively strategize about ways to develop a thriving business corridor.
